The Portadown Branch and Club of The Royal British Legion was formed in 1921 in Edward Street, Portadown. After moving several times it became resident at it’s present location.
The
branch and club have had to take up temporary premises on two occasions
in 1982 and 1993 because of bombings and due to these most the old records
of the branch and club have been lost.
In 2001 the Branch held a Tattoo in Portadown to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of it’s formation. Representatives from Headquarters, Scotland, Southern Ireland and branches throughout Northern Ireland took part in a parade through Portadown.
In 2002 The Royal British Legion had the Freedom of the Borough of Craigavon conferred on it. The Mayor in that year Alderman Samuel Gardiner handed over the Scroll to Mr. John Hawthornthwaite, National Vice-Chairman.
The branch in September 2005 celebrated the 60th anniversary of the ending of World War II with a parade through Portadown followed by a tattoo & displays in Chambers Park, Portadown.
Branch Information
The club is open from 10 am each morning with the bar opening from 11.30 am Monday to Saturday and 12.30 on Sunday, and a warm welcome is extended to Royal British Legion members, their guests and serving members of the armed forces from all around the world.
The Portadown Branch of The Royal British Legion continue to seek suitable new members so why not call round to the club or fill in the online application form provided on this site. Please remember that even though you may not have been in the Armed Forces it doesn't disqualify you from joining the Royal British Legion.

In 2004 Portadown Branch won the Haig Cup, which
is presented to a branch that shows progress and efficiency. In 2001, 2002 & 2005 Portadown Branch has won the Efficiency
Cup (Branches with Clubs). The Branch also won the W. R. Knox Cup for membership. |
